Key Features
The Doepfer A-111-6V Miniature Synthesizer Voice is a complete synthesizer module with an array of features and a retro-style black front panel. All in only 10hp of rack space. The VCO section features tools such as tune modulation and manual pulse width. Filtering on the module is provided by a 24db low pass, with CV controls for modulation depth and tracking. The filter's resonator can self-oscillate. Also equipped with a VCA this module gives you a head start in your modular synth build. This would also be ideal if you're looking to build a small HP system for gigging. This module is similar to the A-111-5V as it features a lot of the same functionality just in a smaller form factor.

The A-111-6V contains a single oscillator that produces either sawtooth, triangle or no waveforms which are mixed with a rectangle waveform. The rectangle wave can be turned off by turning the pulse width (PW) knob to 0. The pitch of this VCO can be set with the tune knob, a jumper on the back of the module can alter the range of the knob from half an octave to 2 and a half octaves. The range switch can set the octave which the knob works in. Overall the range of this oscillator is from 32Hz to 16kHz. External control signals can be used to set the pitch (1V/octave).
The mod input is attached to an attenuator also labelled mod and can be switched between pulse width modulation and frequency modulation. The output of the VCO is sent into the balance unit. This is two VCAs with one hardwired to the VCO output. The other is wired to the ext in jack. The balance knob allows you to blend the two signals together. This expands the capabilities of this unit beyond standard VCOs. The balance can also be controlled by CV.
The VCF is a 24 dB low pass filter with a manual frequency control. The filter also has a manual resonance control which can self oscillate when set high enough. If no sound is being fed in from the VCO then this can be used as a sine wave oscillator. There are two FM inputs for this filter. VCF FM 1 is attached to the attenuator FM 1. FM 2 is a second input that isn't connected to an attenuator, this can allow for pitch tracking. The pitch tracking is particularly interesting when used with the sine wave produced by the self oscillating resonance, you can essentially play the filter. The ability for FM greatly expands the tonal palette of this module. The VCA has a manual gain knob or can be set to open with the envelope or gate input.
The A-111-6V has an envelope generator that can be used for modulating the VCA. This has manual controls for attack and decay/release. There is a switch for modes of A/D, ADSR and A/R. This gives you several options for different envelope types which is useful when using a module with this form factor and limited manual controls. There is an output for this module so you can use the envelope to control other modules. This is great if you plan to expand your modular system.
