The Meinl Artist Series William "Kachiro" Thompson 11" Wood Conga has been crafted to the highest standard for professional use. The three-ply Siam oak shell produces a bright, resonant tone. Fitted with a hand-selected mule skin head, you get unbeatable durability. A natural, warm and full-bodied sound. And, it's weatherproof so you can play in anywhere. Finished with robust gold tone hardware to keep your conga looking and sounding great.
Built with care
All Meinl congas go through a rigorous manufacturing and quality control process. Wood is sawn and then bent into a curved shape using a large press. The staves are checked for consistency, then assembled into a conga-like shape by hand. Cut to profile in a lathe, sanded and painted - each conga then goes to the careful and meticulous work of the quality control team.

About William 'Kachiro' Thompson
One of the most in demand percussionists of today. William 'Kachiro' Thompson was up and performing on stage by the age of 8 years old. At 14, 'Kachiro' had already begun his professional career, recording with the Zodiac Orchestra. With over 700 recordings to date, there are too many artists to list. The majority of his career has been in salsa music. But, he has performed with various acts from music to film. In jazz, he has played with Luis Martin, Julito Alvarado, Robert Vilera and his own group: Kachiro Thompson's Jazz Trio. He's recorded for various films, including: Under Suspicion, Dance with me, Runner Runner, and Dirty Dancing Havana Nights. If there's anyone who needs a versatile, professional conga drum to suit their versatile skill set, it's Kachiro Thompson.
